Episode 9: 1/4th of a Spanish Milled Dollar + The Treaty of Ghent + The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
Greg talks neither about a Spanish milled dollar, nor the Treaty of Ghent, nor the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. First person to figure it out and send in the solution (showing your work) wins a prize! I don’t know what! But it’ll be some sort of prize!
Music from this one will be available separately on spinnwebe.com in the Discography.

Yay for Doctor X making an attempt at the title. He got it wrong, but honestly I wasn’t expecting anyone to give it a shot.
I know a couple Firefighters (and my Grandfather was one) and I know for a fact that if you’re parked in a way even remotely blocking a hydrant they need access to they will not hesitate to destroy your car to hook hoses up. An incident that comes to mind was some douche in a Bentley who got his windows busted in so the firefighters could run hose through it.

Oh yah I’m with you on the parking and the fire hydrant, if something suddenly happened in the four minutes I was sitting there and my car got mangled because of firefighters stomping over it…mmm well I will say if I had the feeling they weren’t vindictively doing it and just harmed my car in the course of my making their job difficult, I would not be happy about the destruction but I wouldn’t be angry with them specifically.
Hoses through the windows, though, I saw that movie. Was that based on an actual incident?
As for the videos, though, those are both the same link?
Oh nevermind, I got it. Here’s the rebuttal:

There was a movie with a bit about running hose?
Derp I can’t believe I pated the same link, but I’m glad you found the rebuttal anyway.
Huh. Well, yeah, I saw it in a movie — probably Backdraft? — but apparently it happens often enough that it’s a Thing:

Though to be specific, I wasn’t parked in front of it like this anyway. I was stopped with my blinkers on, that for sure would’ve been a ticketable distance if I was just parked there, but I don’t think I was fully blocking it. I’m not fully in the clear on this, but it’s no reason for her to be a pissy authoritarian bitch about it, either.
Only tangentally related and quite late to the party…
When my daughter was in daycare, occasionally parents would stop right in the “Fire Lane/No Parking” zone in front of the doors, put their hazard lights on, and go inside. Their defense was, “Well, I’m just picking up my child”, to which the proper reply was “That’s what everyone who’s not working here is doing”. It’s not like anyone hangs out at the daycare for an hour or so.
And why people think putting their blinkers on is a magical defense against tickets (+100 resist?) I’m not sure. It’s like they’re acknowledging that they’re doing something wrong and that acknowledgement somehow excuses it.
Much love nonetheless.
So, do we get an answer to the title?
